A Day in the Life of a Triathlete Working in the Industry...

It is quite obvious that I am a triathlete, but it might not be as obvious that I also get to work in the same industry as my athletic passion. Aside from training, I get to learn and work with one of the greatest cycling/triathlon innovators, John Cobb. Many know him, but if you were to bump into him at a race, you would not know all the amazing things he has brought to the sport, and that’s because he will never talk about it. He is a true inventor with a creative mind, but not only that, he truly cares about improving the sport through new innovations, and most importantly, improving riders’ comfort. He doesn’t follow trends, he creates his own path. He makes sure he follows the path that brings the best products and knowledge to the people. Which is why he hired me to be his head of Women’s Development as the women’s market grows rapidly in both cycling and triathlon.

So Fancy ;)
But what truly goes into the daily life of Rachel Olson at Cobb Cycling? Sarcasm, mostly. But beyond that, I learn… A LOT. From only a year of working here, I have learned so much about bike fitting, bike components, saddle comfort and discomfort of cyclists, and much more. But the greatest thing of all is that I have the opportunity to share all the great information I learn with other female cyclists and triathletes around the world-which is exactly our mission. I have the privilege to help improve athletes’ comfort on the bike to help them improve in their own goals. I talk to women every day about finding comfort in order to keep them in the sport, or help them get into the sport happily and without pain. I was also able to help in the making of our new website alongside Alex Bok (Director of International Sales and Marketing) and Seth Cooke (Sales Consultant). Overall, we have a very open environment that allows for growth and an increase in knowledge on a daily basis.

This year, Cobb Cycling is working on a project to bring more knowledge to women of all levels, as well as getting them more involved in the sport. We know that getting into cycling and triathlon can be difficult, and it can be even more difficult to talk about sensitive subjects with bike shop personnel or even other cycling peers. What we want to do is open up that conversation. My goal is to get more women comfortable and involved and let them know they can do this without pain! It has been incredibly rewarding to work on this project, and I will hopefully be traveling to bike shops across the nation to talk to women. Just last night, we hosted our first (of many) Women’s Night of this project and it was great! It's just a comfortable, Women's Only, environment to learn and get together with other athletes, and ask any questions you may have on the topic. If you think this is something you want in your area, just let me know! I truly enjoy helping others, especially when it is something that I am passionate about.

Keeping it Lighthearted!

Food for Days, Thanks to Mrs. Ginger!

Anyway, all of this is why I love working in the industry of my passion. I get to help other women who share my same passion and learn every day from some very smart people! Well, all of that, and I get time to work out!

Spin Classes every Tues/Thurs!

If there's anything else you want to know or to see from me, let me know :) I'm still very new to this blogging world!
Thanks!
